Who is Celeste Alexander Spaces

I've finally found my blog voice! I decided to share with everyone who I am, my journey and my love for interior design, furniture, fabrics, travel and all things chic.

I was born in Newport Rhode Island home to the most sprawling mansions of the gilded age. Visiting these summer home of Americas aristocrats had an impact on me that has lasted over forty years as we often took tours of these grand landmarks when in grade school. I often wondered why those in my neighborhood did not live remotely close to the luxury as narrated by tour guides. I vowed to make everyone's home beautiful. I lived in California for seventeen years and currently reside in Georgia. I often say I'm tri-coastal'. I began my career when design was only for the well to do, with HGTV and the $1000.00 room make overs it opened up the door of design to the everyday people. Consumers now realized it wasn't just about expensive items but creativity and resourcefulness.

THE BREAKERS
THE MARBLE HOUSE

Well life got in the way and I didn't start my design career until after having worked in several distracting positions but yet beneficial for the future, finally attending a local community college while going through a divorce with three children. I decided it was what I really wanted (the short version)
Today I have four grandsons and one glam daughter. I've been married to my second husband since 1999, I'm 11 years umm  I mean 10.6 years older than him and this is a whole blog in itself (not a cougar) I own a fashion boutique located at 1920 Cheshire Bridge Atlanta GA 30324 (my design office is inside)

THE ALEXANDER BUNCH

I love Decorating & Design
I study Gods word and believe it. I love vintage things because they tell a story, there is so much history. My favorite pieces in my home and closet are vintage even when I purge and redecorate I never let go of my vintage items. You can catch me traveling, dining. reading, decorating a wedding, thrifting, antique-ing, visiting fashion shows, art shows, festivals and any form of shopping I enjoy. I make time for charity work, volunteering to help a real people and causes.  We support the Lupus Foundation ( my daughter is a Lupus survivor), 40 girls and some shoes, Behind the Bench and my new baby Drapes for Dreams (more coming soon)

Snow White and the 7ways to live with her

White is the most difficult non color to love with, so here are 7 tips on how to live with white.

1. Just get Dopey- If you know your a compulsive neat clean freak just go for it and decorate with white.

Sleeping Beauty will be so jealous!

2. Getting Sleepy- try using white bedding only if your not a clean neat freak. White bedding is easy to care for, easy to find and coordinates with any other color.
White sheets are easy to care for that's why hotels use them.

3. Avoid Sneezy- Use white towels for good health reasons, easy to wash with bleach and you don't have to worry about color fading

Roll white towels for a usable decorative touch.

4. Doc'tor up your bathroom with white for a clean crisp look, germs cant hide so easy in a white.

SO RELAXING

5. Dont be so Bashful- select durable materials such as marble, leather, lacquer, wool and even textured viynl. Painted surfaces with a top coat for protection are also easy to clean.

TEXTURE KEEPS WHITE FROM BEING BORING

6. Dont be Grumpy- If you have a busy household, you know white is not an option in large doses try using it in a room that the family uses the least like a dining room (with vinyl coverd seating) or office.

use white mats on your artwork

 7. Just be HAPPY you can live with white wheather its a collection of vases or a completly decorated white room.By understanding your lifestyle, desires and how far your willing to go. After all Snow White lived with 7 men until prince charming came along. WATCH YOUR TONE!

Don't use that tone with me!

When it come to tone, color tone is the key to setting the mood of a room.

The intensity of a color basically describes Tone.

The tone is affected by two parts – the value, the amount of black or white it
contains and the intensity/saturation, the amount of color it contains. The combination of these produces tone.

The ability to understand tone will be the difference between a dull and boring scheme and a great well-balanced pleasing scheme.

Shade refers to the darkness or lightness of the color. Tone refers to the intensity of the color and undertones are what it is influenced by. The yellow has an undertone of green there for we may get a chartreuse(see the floral wallpaper above)

So ask yourself what mood would I like to create? what will the rooms atmosphere be like? Is the room for sleeping, reading, playing, working or exercising? The answer can guide you to chosing the right tone of color. Still need help click here http://www.caspaces.com/howwework.html

Living with Color

Are you bold at home?

Express yourself out loud with color.
Love it or scared of it? Who is willing to try it?

Most of us start with a basic beige sofa and neutrals because we haven't mastered the art of living with color.  We don't enjoy living with color because of fear and uncertainty of making a mistake and doing it wrong. A simple color consultation can cure all those fears and concerns.
